Creamy Herb Dressing from Satu’li Canteen at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

This creamy herb dressing from Satu’li Canteen is hands-down one of our all-time favorite flavors at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We get it every single visit—it’s that good. The best part? It’s incredibly easy to recreate at home, and once you try it, you’ll want to put it on everything!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup mayo
  • ¼ cup water
  • 3 T lemon Juice
  • ¼ t Sumac
  • ¼ Cardamom
  • t Turmeric
  • Pinch of Xanthan Gum
  • 1 tsp of finely chopped basil
  • ¼ Salt
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring Cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Rubber Spatula
  • Airtight container or squeeze bottle
  • Knife and cutting board

Method
 

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise and water. Whisk thoroughly until the mixture is completely smooth and free of any lumps.
  2. Add the lemon juice and stir until fully incorporated.
  3. Sprinkle in the sumac, cardamom, turmeric, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Mix well to evenly distribute all of the spices.
  4. Add the finely chopped basil and stir until combined.
  5. Add a small pinch of xanthan gum and whisk again to slightly thicken the dressing.
  6. Transfer the dressing to an airtight container or squeeze bottle. Cover and refrigerate overnight, or for up to 24 hours, to allow the flavors to fully develop.
  7. For best results, do not skip the resting time—this is what brings all the flavors together.
